P.I. Tchaikovsky State String Quartet

The long-term creative work of the quartet is characterized by numerous concerts in the best music halls of Moscow and Russia, the release of CDs, which invariably receive appreciation from the press, radio and television. The extensive geography of foreign tours constantly increases the number of admirers of the Quartet. Over its long history, the quartet has earned the well-deserved respect of the most sophisticated audience, performing at the best concert halls in Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Korea and many other countries. Along with concert activities, the musicians are actively involved in teaching activities, sharing their experience at master classes in Finland, Japan, Italy, Turkey, Germany and, of course, Russia. In 2000, in honor of the 160th anniversary of P. I. Tchaikovsky, the Quartet made an extensive tour over the cities of Russia. Performances were held in cities of Klin, Vorkuta, Kogalym, Ukhta, Petrozavodsk, Bryansk, Ufa, Yekaterinburg, Neftekamsk, Kostroma, Yaroslavl, etc. For their dedication and selfless work, the Quartet was constantly awarded by the Government of Russia and the Government of Moscow. The ensemble also has honorary diplomas from Mexico, France and Italy. Lev Maslovsky, Zakhar Malakhov, Honored Artist of Russia Sergey Baturin, laureate of the 1st prize at the T. Tchaikovsky Kirill Rodin - the names of these musicians, united by boundless love and devotion to the quartet, are familiar to many music lovers. Concerts with the participation of this group always arouse great interest among the public, and there’s no surprise. The quartet has spoken the new word in chamber music even though it seemed that this area is already quite well researched. In addition to high professional skills and impeccable taste, musicians of P.I. Tchaikovsky State String Quartet have the ability to break the stereotypes in their performances. The phenomenal mastery of instruments brings the sound of this quartet closer to the sound of an orchestra in terms of power and brilliance. The quartet strictly follows the classical traditions of the Moscow Conservatory school, whose brightest representative is David Oistrakh. Having once found their unique style, the musicians of the quartet follow the path they have chosen with more and more confidence in each performance. In 2001, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and Russia, the Tchaikovsky Quartet became the founder of the Spring in Russia International Chamber Music Festival. The large-scale forum gathers the leading chamber ensembles of the world on the venues of Moscow, the extraordinary world of the most intimate, sincere sphere of musical art appears to the metropolitan audience in all the diversity of genres and cultures. The festival is held annually, and its scope is constantly expanding. P.I.
